Award Shows are Common to Celebrate the Previous Year’s Achievements

As the new year comes around, people tend to look back at the previous year.  Some may look at the negatives of the year.  While on the other hand, others might look at the positives of that given year.   As such, it’s common for organizations to hold award ceremonies.  In order to celebrate those individuals or teams that went beyond expectations.  This is none more so then the entertainment industry.  January, as well as February are months that celebrate the diversity and storytelling told through the last year.  There are two February award shows that are coming to viewers alike.  These two awards shows are The Oscars and Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards.  While these two award shows are in completely different genres, these two will undoubtedly show the best of the best within their genres.

The First of the Award Shows Coming in February is The Oscars

Firstly, let’s take a look at The Academy Awards also known as The Oscars.  The Oscars are coming to ABC on Sunday, February 9, 2020 5:00pm PST or 8:00pm EST.  Additionally, film enthusiasts can rejoice because Hulu is also streaming The Oscars.  Just like every year, there are constructions of categories ranging from “Best Motion Picture” to “Best Original Screenplay”.  Essentially, The Oscars is a night for the film industry to come together to discuss and celebrate the magic of films.  This year is no exception with the amount of nominations this Oscars has.  With films ranging from Joker to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the variety in different genres is prevalent.  In addition, there’s diversity with the “Actresses in a Leading Role” as well as “Best Director”.

On the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences official website under the article, “2020”, the academy presents that “actress Cynthia Erivo made the nomination for her role in the film Harriet” (2).   Being able to bring light to diversity that the film industry has is vitally important.  Additionally, on the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences official YouTube page under the name, “92nd Oscar Nominations”, Issa Rae who is one of the announcers of the video reveals that “Director Bong Joon Ho is nominated for Best Directing for his film, Parasite” (14:51). The Academy is showing audiences that diversity is a necessity in the film industry.  Undoubtedly, The Academy Awards this year will bring memorable moments to the film industry regardless of how the night plays out.  Just as The Oscars are coming to viewers, Crunchyroll is bringing its own award show with The Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards.

The Second of the Award Shows Coming in February is The Crunchyroll’s Anime Award Show

The second award show that is coming in February is The Crunchyroll Anime Awards.  Just like The Oscars, The Crunchyroll Anime Awards is a night to celebrate anime.  Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards is on February 15, 2020 at 5:00 pm PST.  Fans can watch this award show through various ways.  On the official Crunchyroll website under the article title “About the Anime Awards” Crunchyroll reveals that “this award ceremony can be seen on Crunchyroll’s official website in addition to its social medias” (2).  That’s right, Crunchyroll is giving anime fans a wider chance to watch the award ceremony.  More specifically, The Crunchyroll Anime Award can be seen on Crunchyroll’s Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube pages.  Anime has become a huge medium throughout the years.  With that said, this award show will undoubtedly bring anime fans together.
