This image is official artwork of Star Wars to celebrate the release of all nine films on Disney+.  According to the official Star Wars Facebook post, this website states that “this franchise, as well as this image’s right and credit, belongs to Lucasfilm Ltd, and The Walt Disney Company.”(6).  These are the production company that is responsible for the distribution and creation of Star Wars.  This image is on the official Star Wars Facebook page celebrating the release of all nine films on Disney+.  

It’s No Stranger that Star Wars is an Incredibly Popular Franchise

What is the first thing that comes to mind when someone says Sci-Fi? Some might say Doctor Who, Firefly, or Star Trek.  More than likely, many will say the franchise Star Wars.  For more than forty years, this franchise has taken the cinema world by storm.  In fact, this franchise has made a multi-generational fanbase.  Within the last few years, Star Wars has had some major changes.  The Walt Disney Company purchase the franchise from George Lucas.  Then, Disney as well as Lucasfilms made a lot of new content with Disney+, animations, and films. Reactions to these new contents have been a mix bag.  Some have been positive while others have been negative.  With that said, there’s one new content that has gain a lot of attention.  This new show on Disney+ is the critical acclaim The Mandalorian.

Without a doubt, this one show is one of the main reasons why people have Disney+.  Then on May 4, 2020, Lucasfilms and the Walt Disney Company made a huge announcement.  According to the official Star Wars website under the article, “Academy Award Winner Taika Waititi to Direct and Co-Write New Star Wars Feature Film for Theatrical Release; Oscar Nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns to Co-Write Screenplay with Waititi” Lucasfilms explains that “the main writer of The Mandalorian Taika Waititi, Krysty Wilson-Cairns, Leslye Headland are joining the Star Wars team” (1).  These creative minds are going to come together to create new content for this franchise.  What does this mean for the franchise? Let’s take a look.  In this news article, we’re analyzing the announcement of Taika Waititi, Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and Leslye Headlands creating new Star Wars content.

Lucasfilms and Disney Announces that Taika Waititi and Krysty Wilson-Cairns Will Create a New Film

Lucasfilms and the Walt Disney Company announces that Taika Waititi, Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and Leslye Headland is creating new content for Star Wars.  Let’s first take a look at what Taika Waititi and Krysty Wilson-Cairns are creating together.  According to the official Star Wars website under the article, “Academy Award Winner Taika Waititi to Direct and Co-Write New Star Wars Feature Film for Theatrical Release; Oscar Nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns to Co-Write Screenplay with Waititi” Lucasfilms expresses the fact that “Taika Waititi in addition to Krysty Wilson-Cairns are going to be working together to create a new film” (1).  These two creative individuals are going to create a new Star Wars film.  Honestly, this will incredibly interesting.  Since both of these writers have experience in some extremely popular work. For instance, Taika Waititi works on The Mandalorian. 

While Krysty Wilson-Cairns according to this article by Lucasfilms “has made amazing scripts like one from critically acclaim film, 1917” (1).  Both of these projects have been incredibly successful.  Even to the point of winning awards for how spectacular the projects are.   Undoubtedly, these two creative individuals will make a well-thought-out script.  Especially since Taika Waititi has experience with writing within this franchise.  Krysty Wilson-Cairns also knows how to write incredibly deep and moving films.  With these two individuals working on the newest Star Wars film, there’s no need to worry about the wellbeing of the project.  There couldn’t be a better pair that could have been selected to write the newest adventure in this well establish franchise.  While Taika Waititi and Krysty Wilson-Cairns work on a new Star Wars film, another writer name Leslye Headland is joining the writing team.

With Waititi and Wilson-Cairns Working on the Newest Film, Leslye Headland is Hard at Work on a New Star Wars Project for Disney+ 

While Waititi and Wilson-Cairns work on a new film, Leslye Headland has been added on the Star Wars writing team.  According to the official Star Wars website under the article, “Academy Award Winner Taika Waititi to Direct and Co-Write New Star Wars Feature Film for Theatrical Release; Oscar Nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns to Co-Write Screenplay with Waititi” Lucasfilms explains that “at this moment, Leslye Headland is in charge of working on a new Star Wars show for Disney+” (1). With this announcement, there’ll be so much new content for this franchise.  Which will undoubtedly bring more individuals into this ever-growing multigenerational franchise.  From what we can see from this article, “Leslye Headland has a well distinguish scriptwriting history from television include Russian Doll to name just a few” (1).  It’s safe to say that this new show will be in extremely good hands with a showrunner writer like Leslye Headland.

At this point, not much information is given about what type of show Headland will be creating.  With that said, there’s no doubt that this new show will be extremely well done.  Much like the film project that Waititi and Wilson-Cairns is currently making. Star Wars has been gaining a significant amount of talent for even better films and shows.  This announcement will bring more amazing content to this franchise.

Without a Doubt, the Newest Star Wars Adventures Will Be One to Remember

In this news article,  we’ve taken a look at the announcement of Star Wars gains new writers.  These writers that are coming into this franchise include Taika Waititi, Krysty Wilson-Cairns, and Leslye Headland.  Firstly, Taika Waititi and Krysty Wilson-Cairns have been brought on to create new films.  Some of these films that these two have made include 1917 and The Mandalorian.  There’s no question that these two individuals will have any problems with making a well-thought-out film.  Additionally, Leslye Headland is making a series for Disney+.  From what we can see in this article, Leslye Headland has been a part of several writing teams for television shows.  With this announcement, Lucasfilms and Disney is making some well-thought-out decisions for the future of this franchise. Without a doubt, these new writers will help grow the audience of one of the most popular Sci-Fi franchises.
