Doctor Who is an Incredibly Popular Sci-Fi Series

What comes to mind when the word “Sci-Fi” is said? Possibly, some Sci-Fi shows that come to mind include Star Wars, Star Trek, or Firefly? Honestly, there are too many Sci-Fi shows, books, videogames, and films to list off. That’s how wide range the genre of Sci-Fi is.  One show that I didn’t include was the ever-growing Sci-Fi British show, Doctor Who.  Since the 1960s, Doctor Who has made its way around the world bringing audiences new characters, stories, and of course new Doctors.  Essentially, Doctor Who follows a time traveler name the Doctor travels through time and space.  The Doctor meets various characters, has numerous companions, and gets into so many different adventures.  Originally, this show was only available in the UK. As the show got more popular, the demand for more opportunities to watch this show grew.

As a result, Doctor Who is now one of the most recognizable sci-fi television shows.  For some, this show is incredibly confusing. For others, this Sci-Fi show creates a connection with various generations as this show has been around since the 60s.  With this show getting a larger audience, BBC is branching the franchise to other media genres.  One of these media genres is video games.  Now, Doctor Who has a variety of mobile games.  Recently, Doctor Who made an announcement of a new game name Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins.  What does this game have to offer? Are we going to see some new as well as returning characters? Let’s find out together.  In this news article, we’re diving into the ins and outs of a new Doctor Who video game name Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins.

Familiar and New Characters Come to Play Within Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins

One of the first things we’re going to look at is the story and characters.  Now typically, Doctor Who is a character-driven story.  As such, it makes sense that this game’s story follows the same narrative.  The infamous Weeping Angels are back causing chaos.  For those who don’t know, the Weeping Angels are a classic enemy within this series.  These enemies are angel statues that are at first harmless.  However, what makes them dangerous is they move when you blink or turn your back on them.  If a Weeping Angel catches someone, they disappear into another realm.  As the Weeping Angels are causing chaos, people are disappearing.  Now, it’s up to the player and a wide range of characters to find out what is happening and stop the Weeping Angels.  At first glance, this game looks like a mystery, adventure game with a sense of suspension.

Now, we don’t have a lot of info about who these characters are.  However, there’s a lot of scenes that show what the game will be.  With investigations to battling weeping angels, Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins feels like a story from the series.  This game uses familiar characters with an engaging story to lure audiences to this game.  One of the things that this game includes is real-life cut scenes with video game puzzles.

Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins Shows Gameplay As Well As Live-Action Scenes

Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins has live-action cutscenes with video game elements.    Instantly, this game feels like the old PC point and click adventures.  Now, live-action cutscenes with video game gameplay isn’t new.  In the early days of videogames, there were a lot of games that use this style of gameplay.  Honestly, this makes the game feel more like an episode of Doctor Who.  There’s a level of engagement that goes up. As the audience can see the actors and actresses instead of computer models.  While the cutscenes are live-action, there’s some video game elements.  From what we see, there are puzzles and situations players have to go through.  So, there are video game elements within Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins.  With the combination of video game elements with live-action cutscenes, this game feels like an interactive episode of Doctor Who.

This is where it feels like this game is going towards.  Like I said, we don’t have a lot of information about this game from just the trailer.  With that, Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins looks like a fun and interactive video game.

All in All, Doctor Who The Lonely Assassins Looks Like a Fun, Interactive, and Suspenseful Video Game Experience
